Review: Obsession (Ink & Iron #1) by Eden Bradley

This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.

He could have it all… but all he wants is her.

During his soaring career as the lead singer of indie-rock band Ink & Iron, Cole Kennrick has been through it all: sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Overindulging until he lost what mattered most. Now he’s pulled his life together and left his addictions behind, except for one: his ex wife, Janie. If only he can convince her their love was—still is—the real thing.

In the seven years since their divorce, Janie has kept tabs on the only man she’s ever truly loved. The one she had to leave in order to save herself. Still, dark and often kinky desires they explored together linger in her dreams and fantasies. Janie has seen up close and way-too-personal that rock stars are bad, bad medicine. But when Cole shows up at her yoga studio, clean and sober, his leather-and-motorcycles scent teasing her senses, it’s way too tempting to slip right back into the one place she swore she’d never risk again—his arms.

Warning: One smokin’ hot tattooed rock star, five sexy-as-hell motorcycles, and a little spanking—because leather and skin just naturally go together.

“This book has been previously published and has been revised and expanded from its original release.”  When I selected this one to read, I was sure it sounded familiar to me – like I had read it before.  But where and when?  After a bit of research I found that I had read it last March in an anthology, or “boxed set” as they are called in the world of e-books.  But, I had enjoyed the first read and was curious to see where or if I could find where it was revised and expanded.  Not to mention, I like reading this author.  Now be aware, the ol’ grey matter ain’t what it used to be, so I may be a bit off base.

During my first read I found the characters likeable.  I still do.  Janie did what she had to do for her own sanity, even when it tore her heart out.  I had to respect her for that.  Cole has worked long and hard to be clean and sober and become the man to deserve Janie.  I had to respect that too.  He is now ready to woo Janie back.  Very nice premise.  I liked it.

I am not totally sure exactly how much wooing actually got done though.  This couple, once they found each other again, couldn’t keep their hands off each other.  Most of their “getting reacquainted” seemed to be done in the physical realm. Don’t get me wrong, there was some wonderfully HOT sex scenes going on.  But discussion of their issues didn’t happen much.  Cole didn’t want to push too hard and Janie was afraid to accept things as they are, instead of as they were.  I could see her issue, especially since this was taking place in the world of rock and roll.

But, as with most romances, they reached their understanding and had their happy ever after.  Did I see where it was revised and expanded?  I may be wrong, but it seemed there were even more sex scenes than I remember.  I wonder too if the parts where I saw typos was also the expanded part that editors hadn’t seen yet.  *shrugs* Hard to say without going back and doing a page by page comparison which, frankly, I don’t have the time or desire to do.  Suffice it to say, it was a decent read with some hot sex, a bit of a story and a satisfying ending.

Any fan of erotic romance will like this story.  If you are into tattooed rockers and bikers with kinky sex thrown in, well bonus!  You will love this one!
