Review: One Snowy Night (Heartbreaker Bay #2.5) by Jill Shalvis

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Heartbreaker Bay with a fun and festive holiday novella!

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

This novella is a super quick, fun read! I enjoyed this in one sitting! The first chapter drew me in and wham! I went nowhere till I finished this book!

I loved Rory and Max! They pulled me into their story. I liked both of them. Max and Rory new each other from High School. There was some bad karma for awhile, so they have kept their distance. The only contact they have had is when Max brings Carl-his huge, lovable dog, in to Rory for grooming. We know there is story to be told from each of them and I had to keep reading to find out what it is!

Max is going home for Christmas and he offers Rory a ride too. She accepts but also dreads being on a road trip with Max. He doesn’t like her and she’s never gotten over her attraction to him from school. The only thing that makes it better is Max will be travelling with Carl.

As nasty weather approaches, our couple is faced with quite a few challenges. I loved how the author made it believable that these two had a two-pronged history. One of contempt, and one of attraction. They both jumped back and forth with their feelings and I felt their struggles. When the weather wreaks havoc, our couple is forced to confront their issues and resolve them quick. You can probably guess what happens next!

I was really bummed when the story ended! Jill Shalvis can’t be done with this couple! I know I want to read more about them! I am hopeful that within the next books in the Heartbreaker Bay series, we are given a more complete HEA! And of course, more of Carl!!
