Review: The One and Only by Tori Carson

Michelle Jarrett, an overworked college student and waitress, is intrigued by Sean Jameson, the sexy businessman who frequents her diner. Though he haunts her dreams, she assumes the confident, charismatic man is far out of her league.

Kink-club owner and Dom Sean can’t resist Michelle’s vibrant smile, and her expressive eyes and intelligence draw him back time and again to the diner—and better yet, he suspects she’s an untrained sub. When he discovers she’s looking for a new job, he offers her one bartending at his business, Cat Tails, and sets out to win her heart.

While a bit wary, Michelle accepts the opportunity to learn more about Dominance and submission with a true Master—not to mention making a salary that allows her to live comfortably. Soon she’s submitting to everything from rope play to bondage—and enjoying it.

But not everyone is pleased that Sean has fallen for Michelle. Once she wears his collar for good, will the stakes turn deadly?

For a BDSM book, I found this a rather sweet read.  Sean Jameson has spent the last several months wooing Michelle Jarrett so subtlety that now that he is getting down to business, she is shocked at how fast he is moving because she didn’t know she was being wooed.  She was rather busy- though she had noticed him, and he was very subtle – he didn’t want to scare her away.  I just found this rather sweet in a weird kind of way.

Once things started moving, they did move rather quickly.  Michelle is a rather smart and savvy young woman.  She may be attracted to this handsome Adonis, but she does ask a lot of questions.  Sean is so patient with her.  He not only answers all her questions as honestly as he knows how, he encourages her to ask even more.  *sigh* A guy a communicates – every woman’s dream!

If you have never read a BDSM book, this would be a wonderful one to start with.  This author does a fantastic job of educating on the subject of BDSM while weaving an amazing love story.

However, even in this sweetly kinky world of love, a snake does lurk.  Be careful not to get bitten.

I liked the way this ended.  We got our happy ever after for this amazing couple, but I see a possible other book, or more.  This is cool club and I wouldn’t mind spending more time there.
