Review: Pounding Skin (Skin Deep Inc. #2) by L.A. Witt

A Skin Deep, Inc. Novel

Fighter pilot Jon Russell never sleeps with the same man twice. Known for his lack of shame when it comes to hooking up, Jon has no interest in commitment—even friends with benefits sounds like too much work.

Matt Huffman has slept with lots of women. He’s had loads of girlfriends. So why does the hot as hell pilot getting a tattoo as the result of a lost bet stop his breath? And how come he can’t stop thinking about him, even after he’s gone?

When Jon returns to Skin Deep the second time, he doesn’t want another tattoo. He wants to hook up with the gorgeous artist he spent hours agonizingly close to, and Matt wants to explore some curiosity about men. Fulfill the desire he can’t stop fantasizing over. And he wants to do it with Jon.

As their casual hook up becomes more than just skin deep, both Matt and Jon are faced with questions they don’t want to answer. Matt understands he’s bi—but are these feelings he has typical of hooking up with a man? Or is it only Jon that can make his heart pound? If Jon wanted nothing more than a fling, why does he find himself needing not just Matt’s body, but all of him? And can their relationship withstand the hardships that makes Jon avoid them in the first place?

The Skin Deep, Inc books can be read in any order—come enter a world where gorgeous tattoo artists and hot Navy men find passion, pleasure, and a happily ever after together.

L.A. Witt has a winner in Pounding Skin!  I really enjoyed reading this book! Matt is confused with his sexuality.  His whole life he has been adamant that he is not gay.  Well, he’s realizing, maybe he’s really not as straight as he thought.  He recently had a threesome with his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend.  Things went in a different direction in regards to the boyfriend, and he liked it. He is now second guessing everything he thought he knew. Is he gay? Is he bi? We get a lot of his inner workings and why he hasn’t realized this much sooner.

Jon is a pilot for the Navy. He’s gay and proud of it. As a self-proclaimed man-whore, he’s never with the same partner twice.  Jon has a real fear of getting too close to anyone, yet alone have anything remotely close to a relationship.  He just doesn’t do them. He never wants to give someone the power to hurt him.  One night his fellow squadron mates cash in on a lost bet and bring Jon to the tattoo shop where he meets Matt.  Jon see stars for Matt.  He’s also deadly afraid of needles but a bet is a bet and he has to go through with it or he’d never hear the end of it.  The guys pick the tattoo and Jon has to return to get it done.

When Jon returns, sparks and chemistry is overflowing! These two were seriously hot! What was supposed to be a one time shot, ends up being a crash course on all things male with Matt!  Although they keep saying it’s only sex, the two end of spending all their time together.  Both in the bedroom and outside of it, it is clear to everybody they are in a relationship. Both men feel it, but Jon’s relationship phobia creates issues.  The author did an outstanding job of how they got from point a to point b.  They really liked each other and their sex was amazing.  Even when they were at Navy functions or at work, they had that special spark you could feel!  Things they said to each other and things they did were so romantic how could you not fall for them??

I loved both Jon and Matt and feel they definitely needed to be together- Ying and Yang! There romance ticked every box! I was very happy how the book concluded and now can’t wait for more!  I hope we get some check-ins with these two in future books of the Skin Deep Inc. series!
