Review: Quench (Hard Case #2) by J. Hali Steele

Alek is cursed. A tiger and lion mix, he also feels vampyre bloodlust. Finding a mate will require finding someone to sate that bloodlust and it has become increasingly clear that the two cats who live beneath his skin are outrageously, unbelievably picky. Then he meets Viviana, the one woman who ignites a fierce fire in his soul.

Viviana, a vampyre warrior, is shocked to come face-to-face with the one creature who can turn her cool blood into a molten river. Her powers stolen, she has to count on the cat for everything—blood, even her life, and when they’re together she becomes a wildcat in his arms. Viv wants Alek as her own, and no one, not even Alek himself, will stand in her way.

Inside Scoop: Alek and Viviana share many erotic likings, including enjoying the occasional voyeuristic adventure as well as exhibitionist sex, when the desire strikes them.

This paranormal novella is a mesmerizing quick read pulls at the heart.  A tiger and lion mix who also feels the vampyre blood lust, Alek believes that he will never find a mate because they would have to quench his thirst and his cats are unbelievably picky. Vampyre warrior, Viviana is shocked when she comes face-to-face with Alek and discovers he can turn her cool blood to molten lava even though he turns into a hairy cat.

This fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation, drama, some action and lots of red hot passion.  The well written scenes and events makes it easy for the reader to picture the story in vivid detail as it happens and the strong, compelling characters are charismatic, easily understood and draw the reader deeper into the story.

The attraction between Viviana and Alek is panty melting hot and the sex scenes scorch the reader with fiery passion, but the romance has a few obstacles to overcome before these two can have the mating of a lifetime.  The emotional drama and turmoil grips the reader and has them empathizing with Alek, because he believes he can’t ever have what he truly wants.

The author combines lots of intriguing powerful characters that the reader wants to know more about with interesting story concept and lots of hot and steamy pleasure to captivate the reader.  I don’t know if she plans on writing more involving the Kind, but I certainly hope so.
