Review: Quite A Quartet: Molly’s Mayhem # 2 by Renee Michaels

A foursome is sure to quadruple your pleasure.

Molly is off on another adventure. Determined to open a dress shop, she accompanies her mistress Annabelle, the new Countess of Glenhaven, on her bridal journey to fashionable Paris.

To Molly’s chagrin, her young mistress seems hellbent on courting disaster. Encouraged by her over-indulgent husband, Annabelle satisfies her every whim. She dresses in men’s clothing and delights in her newfound freedoms. An attack by a rejected suitor is the least of the troubles the women endure.

But more than her mistress’ shenanigans has Molly’s head spinning. Logan, her lover, has declared his intentions. He speaks of love and a life together. Molly has her future mapped out and never saw herself as a wife.

As far as Molly is concerned, a husband will only hinder her plans, but that doesn’t mean she won’t enjoy his efforts as he tries to convince her otherwise.

My first encounter with Molly and her upwardly mobile dreams: she is serving as lady’s maid to Annabelle, the new Countess of Glenhaven, and she worries that her own secrets will be revealed. For Molly is a lusty girl, and her lover Logan and she engage in several interesting trysts, almost caught  out by Annabelle and her husband.

For her part, Annabelle is indulged and a bit spoiled by her new husband: in ways that would surely brand her as undesirable in the fashionable houses of London, despite her title.  The antics and situations are all set to fuel her sensual desires, and her husband is amenable, if not participating in many.

Molly wants to leave service and become a woman of business: designing clothing for the fashionable women, but keeping Annabelle out of trouble and serving as the outwardly virtuous keeper of her mistress’ good name is pushed to the edge and beyond.

Several sensual interludes from voyeurism to menagé with 2 couples brings a unique and fun twist to a historical romp from the perspective of a servant.  Quick reading, spicy and clever, this historical is a nice mix of spice and humor.
