Review: Red Alert (Ecstasy in Red #1) by Lynne Connolly

Megan meets Sandro at the lowest time of her life-when she thinks her crazy nightmares are symptoms of the tumor that is killing her. But the sexy dragon shape-shifter tells her the dreams are telepathic messages from his missing brother. More than telepathy flares between them. Megan and Sandro burn up the night with sizzling passion, but Sandro won't commit, and Megan wants more than a fling.

When Sandro rescues Megan from a dangerous situation, she gives him the key to locate his brother, but he wants far more from her. He wants her body, all ways, all day, all night.

But he knows he can't promise Megan any kind of forever.

What to read after Sookie Stackhouse…

Red Alert is book one of the new Ecstasy in Red series.  I am fascinated by the way different authors see their worlds.  This one is all about “Talents” instead of paranormals or supernaturals.  I love that term!  It implies a gift rather than just being different.  Talents can be anything from a minor telepath to a dragon shapeshifter and anything and everything in between.  This book not only has the above mentioned telepath – the heroine, Megan Armstrong, and dragon – the hero, Alessandro Gianetti call me Sandro, but also features a jaguar, a vampire, a sorcerer, and a human who in my opinion should be considered a talent because she has such an amazing mind.

This book has very well developed characters that caught my attention and fascinated me.  I want to get to know them, especially now that their formerly secret world has become public.  They suddenly find themselves facing new challenges and enemies that have become even more deadly.

The pacing of this book was good with just a bit of a slow start with the introduction of the world, the characters and the politics. Then it took off like a rocket and held me hostage until the very last page.  There was some thrilling, heart stopping action in amongst the romance and sex.  This couple was heartwarming.

The story ended with a very nice HEA for Megan and Sandro, but left just enough questions and threads that I will be looking for the next book.
