Review: Rescued (Southwestern Shifters #1) by Bailey Bradford

When Gabriel Staley rescues a magnificent black wolf, he has no idea that destiny has just turned up the heat and brought him his mate, sexy shapeshifter Mika Blackwell.

Gabriel Staley was used to being an outcast in the small town of Shasta, Texas. More concerned with rescuing stray dogs from a cruel death at the hands of the local Sheriff, Gabe focuses on making a difference and standing up for what he believes is right. Mika Blackwell, a shape shifter who was banned from his pack, is new to the outcast status, and not adjusting very well.

When Gabe heads out to rescue an injured wolf, he has no idea that his life is about to be eternally altered. As Mika watches the man approach him, he feels the universe tilt and realises that, while he may have lost his pack, he's just found what every shifter longs for - his destined mate.

Together, Gabriel and Mika must find their way and fight for their love—from confronting Mika's former pack leader to stopping someone who tries to kill Gabe's best friend, Todd. When Todd's attacker comes after Gabe, Mika is determined to protect his mate at all costs.

The first book in the Southwestern Shifters series is a riveting m/m romance. Outcast Gabriel Staley heads out to rescue an injured wolf and finds his whole world eternally altered. Having lost his pack, shapeshifter Mika Blackwell is new to outcast status, but as he watches the man approach, he realizes that he may have lost his pack, but he found what every shifter longs for… his destined mate.

This steady to fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps readers shivering in anticipation as Gabe learns to accept the idea that shifters are real and his fascinating attraction to Mika. The author brings the story to life with well written words that capture the imagination and spine tingling tension builds as enemies threaten to tear them apart.  The strong compelling characters are easily related to and grab the reader’s attention from the very beginning.

The attraction between Gabe and Mika exudes red hot passion from the very beginning and the frequent sex scenes scorch the reader with their intensity, but it takes their hearts a little bit to catch up with their bodies as Gabe has a lot to take in on top of his extreme sexual reaction to Mika.  The reader can’t help but empathize with both young men for the way they have been treated by family and friends, forget the rest of the losers they’re not worth worrying over, but family is supposed to love unconditionally.  Both men have big hearts as well and when one of their friends is injured both want to fix the injustice and they get their chance when that danger comes for them and their relationship is not all seriousness as the two pick on each other quite a bit and cause quite a few chuckles throughout the story.

The author has created a fascinating story of shifters and I was completely caught up in the captivating characters that have totally captured my heart from beginning of their story to the very end, and I can’t wait to read the next story in the series.
