Review: Right Billionaire, Wrong Wedding by Victoria Davies

Darian King has never met a challenge he couldn’t handle. Running a billion-dollar corporation? Piece of cake. Hostile takeovers? A walk in the park. But when his little sister begs him to plan her wedding, Darian finds himself less than prepared for the task. Luckily, he knows just who to ask for help.

Allison Reed wants nothing more than to leave King Enterprises behind. Being the personal assistant to a man like Darian is a 24/7 job. Asking her to help plan a wedding is simply the icing on the stress-filled cake but to leave she needs a glowing reference and will do anything to get it. Even plan a wedding with the man of her dreams.

Stepping outside the office has unexpected consequences. Darian doesn’t believe in relationships, yet he’s starting to see Allison in a whole new light. But he doesn’t know her secret, and she fears that by the time the vows are exchanged, she won’t just be leaving her job behind but her heart as well.

For four years Allison has been Darian King’s personal assistant. Her entire life has revolved around Darian and his business. There has been virtually no “personal” time. Late office hours, calls on the weekend, and three am pow wow sessions are the norm. Allison is through. She wants out. She decides to start looking for another job. Then Darian’s sister asks him to plan her last minute wedding while she’s abroad. Allison has always been there to help, so she decides she will do this and then leave.

As they are planning the wedding, Ali’s feeling intensify. She’s always been attracted to Darian, she just would never acknowledge it. Darian finally see Ali in a different light. One night Ali decides to take a chance and kiss Darian. What does she got to lose? She’s going to leave anyway-why not indulge. At least that’s what she tells herself.

Darian is surprised but then wants Ali. They decide a one night stand will sate their hunger. Wrong. They then morph into some type of friends with benefits arrangement. But that’s not really what’s going on either. Darian is reluctant to give them a label. He is afraid of losing another person so he tries to keep Ali at a comfortable distance. But then he can’t keep that distance himself. He wants more and more of her.

Well I am not a real fan of Darian. Ali put herself on the line over and over for him and he never really gave her the accolades she deserved. Then he does this whole push me pull me thing with her feelings. Yes I want you for myself-but I can’t have a relationship. He was in a freakin’ relationship! It took till the very end for him to have that light bulb moment. I just wanted to slap him silly!

Now Ali was also a little naïve about what was really happening too. She’s pretty much been Darian’s doormat the whole time she’s been with his company. Gosh girl! You deserve better that’s for sure. She slowly changes his idea of them and she’s at least honest with him when she needed to be.

This was an okay read for me. It seemed to wrap of rather suddenly and I thought Ali needed to make Darian work for her a bit more. I also felt it would’ve felt more finished if we were treated to an epilogue.
