The first book in the World of Shadows series is a thrilling action packed read.  Rachel Ryan wakes up in a lab with no memory of how she got there and then she is informed that she has been experimented on in order to turn her into a weapon against myths. Armed with a power she doesn’t understand she’ll tip the scales in a war with mankind against creatures who that live in darkness, but which side will she choose?

This fast paced plot keeps readers on the edge of their seat with lots of action, suspense and romance.  The author brings the world to life with vivid imagery, details and strong compelling characters that grab the reader’s attention and draw them deeper into the shadows.  The tension builds as the readers learn how diabolical the human scientists are and anticipate just what will become of Rachel.

The attraction between Rachel and Bastian ignites the pages and the sex scenes are hot and steamy but the true connection is a little out of reach with everything that is happening in the story.  Rachel impresses the reader with how she handles the situation and her new found and interesting abilities and the reader can certainly relate to her motivations.

I was thoroughly engrossed in the story from the very beginning and couldn’t put this fascinating story down.  I wish it had been a little longer as there were so many captivating characters involved and they were all going in different directions but it certainly covered everything and packed a lot of excitement.Rising Shadows
