Title: Shadows of Night
Immortal Embrace, Book Two
Christian Voss’ immortal existence becomes a little less boring the second he meets his new assistant, Emma Hayes. Her fiery personality and raw sex appeal bring out his every carnal instinct, their chemistry charged and volatile. Christian enjoys the challenge, feeling alive for the first time in centuries. Sex with Emma is a drug he can’t resist, and he’s not about to give her up.
Emma is no easy conquest. She fights him at every turn, frightened by the growing desires threatening her will. Her reservations are fueled by guilt over the loss of her family, and Christian vows to help her find the vampire responsible. But when secrets from her past come to light, the truth may be more than a mere mortal can bear.
When two worlds collide, the resulting conflagration of passion, pain and revenge will leave Christian and Emma changed forever.

Shadows of Night is a sexy read filled with action, romance and hot vampires. This page turn, had me riveted from cover to cover with it’s hot sex scenes as well as it’s unexpected twists. The characters are enduring and I couldn’t wait to see how then end up together.
Unlike the previous title’s heroine, I liked Emma. She stated strong thorough the whole story. Although I got to say, for a former military personnel she doesn’t follow directions very well. Christian is a sexy man. Him and Emma together are like watching fireworks. Ooh, Ahh, Wow! Of course there is conflict between them. Personally, I think it has to do with her again, not following directions. Of course it all works out in the end giving a nice happy ending although I think Christian comes out the winner in this one.
Ms. Simone has created a unique version of vampires in this series. For the most part I liked it. The origins of Dorian and various other vamps in the story did seem a bit far-fetched even for someone who like originality in their stories. However, given I am enjoying this series, I will overlook it.
This is the second book in the series and so far I have found both work well as stand-alones. However, since I have enjoyed (for the most part) both books I recommend reading them both. As for Erin Simone’s writings, I will go far as to say I would like to try her other books. She is definitely an author worth following.
