Review: Sinner’s Fall (Brooklyn Sinners #4) by Avril Ashton

Tommy Jankowski is hiding from a past he can’t escape and a man he can’t forget. With a new name and resolve, he settles in a small California town. It’s there he catches the eye of a predator. Fearing for his life, Tommy reaches out to his old boss for help. The man who shows up is the last person Tommy is prepared to face.

Mateo Oliveros hasn’t forgiven himself for scaring Tommy so bad he took off running. When Mateo gets a call that Tommy is in danger, he doesn’t think twice before rushing to the rescue, but Tommy isn’t happy to see him. Mateo’s plan is to eliminate Tommy’s problem then walk away, but that’s getting harder and harder to do. The pull between them hasn’t disappeared, in fact, it burns hotter and brighter. With neither man willing to give in, they’re both headed for a fall. It’s only a matter of who goes first.

Just when I think it can’t get any better Avril Ashton has to go and write another book in her Brooklyn Sinners series, Sinner’s Fall and make me scream. Oh, don’t worry, a good scream if not a little frustrated.  The Brooklyn gang is back, whether disbanded or not, trouble seems to follow these criminal-type hunks and their sexy men.

Tommy left Brooklyn (in book three) after a scare involving Mateo. Abused as a teen, Tommy could not completely give himself to Mateo and with the help of Pablo ran into seclusion. Now stalked by a powerful man in the small California community he hides in, Mateo is sent by Pablo to aid and protect the young man. The man Mateo loves.

Ms. Ashton has gangster love down pat as the reader is transformed into another world where the bad guys have hearts, feelings and souls, and would protect a loved one, family and friend with all their being.

Tommy and Mateo are perfect for each other, the yin to his yang as they come together for survival and love. Of course, what would the series be without the other favorites showing up? But Ms. Ashton, did you have to tease us and leave us hanging? No spoilers though.

Sinner’s Fall is about depth of character and bonds that are formed even when the circumstances are not ideal. It is about friendship that creates love and of family bonds that can never be broken.

Sexy, tattooed men and steam the wall paper off the wall sex. Sinner’s Fall is a must read.
