Review: Stroke of Luck by Trixie Stilletto

Annalisa Webb is a photographer, determined to get the very best possible shots of the Olympic sculling team and make her boss proud. But she doesn’t bank on her clumsiness landing her in an Olympic sportsman’s lap—literally.

Ex-Army Ranger Robert Buchanan is going for the gold—not for himself, but for his wounded comrades and those who’re still putting their lives on the line every day overseas. When curvaceous, quirky Annalisa loses her footing and nearly drowns them both, he wants her immediately.

But Robert knows that losing his heart might mean losing his medal. He has to prioritize success over sex. The only problem is that if he loses Annalisa, he doesn’t know whether he can count himself a winner at all.

Stroke of Luck is a fun and fast-paced read from Trixie Stilletto. The author creates entertaining characters that pull you right into this contemporary romance.

Annalisa Webb, a clumsy sports photographer, meets the man of her dreams when she is photographing sculling practice runs and falls from a cliff into Robert Buchanan’s boat. Annalisa’s clumsiness is always getting her into trouble, but she is able to brush it off with grace, which makes her a likeable character. Robert, ex-Army Ranger, is competing in the US Championships trying to make the Olympic team, so he can honor injured soldiers. This earnestness makes Robert an endearing character. Through the use blunt, witty, and rapid-fire dialogue, the author builds the sexual tension between Robert and Annalisa so much that their first sexual encounter is sizzling hot and sparks the page. Just when you think that Robert and Annalisa are well on their way to a happily ever after, Robert miscalculates and says some down right awful things to Annalisa, breaking her heart. When Robert realizes what he has lost, the plan he puts into motion to get Annalisa back will bring a smile to your face.

Stroke of Luck is a page-turning version of boy gets girl, boy loses girl, and the inspired way the boy gets the girl back drives this story to a perfectly romantic conclusion.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
