Review: Taken (The Harvest #1) by M.A. Church

In the year 2050, humanity finds out they are indeed not alone.

Massive space ships appear without warning above the capital cities of all major nations. The planet Tah'Nar is dying. Chemical warfare has reduced the once-intersexed warrior race to sterility. They need fresh DNA in order to reproduce and have an idea for a harvesting program... and so they turn to Earth.

Earth governments negotiate a lottery, and Dale Michael assumes he's safe since he's under the Harvest age limit. How wrong he is. He's illegally harvested and claimed by Tah'Narian starship captain Keyno Shou. From the moment Keyno sees Dale, he knows he must claim the spirited human male for his own. What he doesn’t expect is a spitfire with a mind of his own—and a deadly disease that will require a risky procedure to cure.

The first book in The Harvest series is a mesmerizing and erotic m/m science fiction romance that intrigues as well as tantalizes.

The Tah’Nar people are dying and they need mates, together with the various Earth governments that set up a lottery to choose the males that will be taken. Starship captain Keyno Shou is taken with the human Dale Michael as decides to claim him as his mate, despite the lottery. What he doesn’t expect is a spitfire with a mind of his own and a deadly disease that will require a risky procedure to cure.

This steady to fast paced plot keeps the reader engaged with action, suspense and romance. The author brings the fascinating characters to life with vivid imagery and details that capture the imagination and the setting and events are described with well written words that are easily pictured and make the reader feel as if they are part of the story.

The chemistry between Keyno and Dale radiates heat from every page and the frequent sex scenes are hot, steamy and sizzling with lots of passion.  The relationship however has a very rocky start and lots of issues to be overcome. Dale is intrigued with Keyno but he has no choice but to accept what’s happening and Dale’s really not sure that he can do that.  Not to mention, there are several other conflicts going on that keep interrupting Keyno as he tries to court his mate.

Betrayals come to light and new truces and friendships are found as this couple try to forge their own relationship which adds a lot of depth to the story as the reader gets totally caught up in the emotions and drama of the events taking place throughout the story.

The author has created an intriguing as well as fascinating world with captivating characters that has the potential for lots of wonderful future stories.  Of course I was a little upset with where the author decided to end this one, but that’s okay, I will impatiently wait for the next story in the series.Taken
