Title: Tempting Alibi
Former Marine Scott O’Callaghan got into a fair amount of trouble as a teenager, but now he’s grown and runs a respectable auto body shop. When he’s accused of a crime he didn’t commit, no one is more surprised than him when straight laced Michaela Miller provides him with an alibi. An alibi that’s a complete lie. Determined to find out why his sexy next door neighbor helped him out, he puts himself in danger of losing something he’d never considered. His heart.

Michaela Miller has been lusting after her next door neighbor since he moved in seven months before. She watches him jog in the mornings and wants nothing more than to strip him naked and have her way with him. Scott O’Callaghan spent eight years in the marines and has moved back home and opened an auto body shop. He has noticed Michaela from the moment they met but he doesn’t think she would be interested in him since she comes from a family with money and his was poor. But when Michaela steps in as his alibi when the local sheriff is trying to arrest him for a robbery he didn’t commit, he decides he needs to get to know his neighbor better.
I loved Scott. He was very much the strong silent type with a killer body. He wasn’t silent to be rude or put people off, he just only spoke when he had something to say. He had a rough childhood so he is leery of trusting others but he feels a connection with Michaela that has grown since they met. Michaela has also felt pulled towards Scott but she doesn’t think he likes her since he doesn’t talk to her. She has a girl next door prettiness that she feels wouldn’t attract Scott so she doesn’t try to interest him. Both characters have insecurities about themselves and it was nice to see them grow together.
This novella was a steamy quick read. I would have liked more to the actual story line but it was mostly hidden behind a lot of sex and there was nothing wrong with that. I would have been fine without that part of the plot and the story just focused on Michaela and Scott overcoming their insecurities to be together. Regardless I really enjoyed it and I will be looking for more books by Stuart.
