Title: The Accidental Elopement
First comes love, then comes marriage—or is it the other way around?
Lucia is an Italian spitfire with big dreams like her billionaire grandfather. But she wants to become a top tier fashion designer, not the heir to the family business in Italy. Now is her only chance to forge her own path. And what better place to start than in New York City? But working behind a bar doesn’t exactly pay the rent. Her trust fund would come in handy, but she needs to get married first. Luckily, she may have found the perfect husband candidate in her co-worker, who just happens to be the most charismatic and devastatingly gorgeous man she’s ever met . . .
There’s more to Ryan’s charming smile than meets the eye—he’s out for revenge and working for his enemy is his best bet at getting it. When Lucia comes to him with her crazy plan, he sees a perfect opportunity to make his move. But doing that could mean hurting his new wife. They say nothing’s sweeter than revenge—but “they” never met a woman like Lucia . . .

A relationship forged from lies and fake pretenses? Yes! That can’t be good right?! You just know this will get interesting!!
Lucia has only a few bucks to her name, so she went to see a family friend about a loan. While waiting in the bar of the hotel the friend, Daniel, owned, she’s mistaken for an illegal immigrant by the bartender, Ryan, and he offers her a job. Lucia had been in New York for a few weeks and wanted to be a designer. But that line of work was drying up and she needed to pay the bills so. She could always get her trust fund when she turned thirty or if she married, but she wanted to forge her own path until she could access it. She accepts the job. Sparks fly and both are attracted to each other.
Ryan was taken with Lucia. Lucia on the other hand, started looking at Ryan as a way to get her trust fund money and start her career. She ends up offering him a deal. Ryan wants nothing better than to get his family to stop nagging him and maybe this will be the way to get back at Daniel for what the man did to his family. And then Lucia, of course, gets her money. They agree.
You know how this is going to go, but I am such a sucker for these types of stories! I love the journey getting there! I liked both characters, but had a bit of an issue with what they each were doing. Ryan was caring and sentimental-which was different than just doing what his family demanded of him. Kind of cut-throat and that seemed out of character for him. Lucia- she was just a bit hard to grasp. I understand wanting to forge your own way, and there usually are rules on trust funds, but I felt how she went about things was odd. Seems she really never wanted to put in the hard work needed to make a living. I may be totally off here, but that’s how I felt. Eventually both see the light, and figure out what they thought they wanted, wasn’t really what they want after all.
The Accidental Elopement is book three in the Chance Romance series and is a keeper!
