The Hero

After Owen left, Natalie fought hard to get where she is today. Seeing different parts of the world, working with the Embassy, and content with her life Natalie is happy. Or so she thought. One meeting with her high school sweetheart and only real love of her life’s father sets her on a path that she is not at all prepared for. At least this time, Owen will be with her every step of the way as they look for his father and the people responsible for the hit on Natalie.

As a fan of Donna Grant’s Dark King series (Dragons!!!), I was not totally sure how this novel was going to come across. Most of what I have read from Miss Grant has been amazing but going from paranormal to contemporary is a lot harder than most authors take into consideration. However, Miss Grant does an awesome job with this great introduction into Sons of Texas with The Hero.

Military romances hold a special place in my heart as they showcase just a little bit of what the military life is all about. Plus usually these men and women are very dedicated individuals whose loyalty, passion, strength, and heat never die. The Hero is no different. This “life” changes a person on the outside and hones their skills but it does not necessarily change the very core of a person and Miss Grant captured that beautifully.

Not many second chance love stories get my attention because of all the what ifs and back-and-forth with the should I or shouldn’t I when it comes to giving into the passion/lust/love. And yes that still put me off with this book but all the action, mystery, and constant drama it made me forget about the what ifs and the shoulda’s. The characters complimented each other very well and drew on each other’s strength and helped in times of weakness.

I will definitely be continuing this series but it hooked me from the very beginning and Wyatt has been calling to me throughout the book. However, he might be book 3 so now I must wait. But Cullen will keep me company while I wait.

I was gifted a copy of this novel from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review.
