Review: The Reluctant Dom (Suncoast Society #4) by Tymber Dalton

Love hurts...if you're lucky.

Kaden's dying, but before he goes he has one problem to solve--he must ask his oldest and dearest friend, Seth, to take over as Dom and Master to his beloved wife, Leah.

Seth has always seen himself as the perpetual screwup and Kaden as the strong and steady one, so his friend's request rocks his world. He also knows there's no way he can refuse Kaden this.

Now Seth finds himself immersed in a role he's far from comfortable with--inflicting physical pain to provide emotional comfort to the woman he's secretly loved for years. Can he deal with his crushing grief over the impending loss of his oldest friend and still learn the skills he must master in time to become The Reluctant Dom?

I’ve put off reading The Reluctant Dom for a while. Everyone I know said they cried and I wasn’t quite ready for a ugly cry book. So as I trolled through my Kindle hunting for something to read I decided oh what they heck.

What an emotional roller coaster of book! Oh yes, this is most definitely a cry-fest for me. Kaden…my heart hurts. Such a beautiful man. Strong, loving, and such courage. What he does to insure his loving wife is taking care of after his death. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Seth…Wow, just wow. To experience his doubts and feelings blew my socks off. Leah…the woman that brings them all together.

Here’s the scoop about the book and what I truly loved about it. Kaden and Seth have been life-long friends but now Kaden is dying. He wants, no he needs, someone to take care of his wife Leah after he passes. Leah has certain special needs that only Kaden has been able to fulfill, so he asks his best friend – his soul brother, Seth to take over for him, that is after explaining ‘everything’ to him. Seth reluctantly agrees and the story now follows the journey of these three souls.

Now for my favorite part and why this book lingers with me. Seth doesn’t magically overnight become a Dom. There is an actual progression of him slowly, painfully learning to become what Leah needs. All his doubts, insecurities and emotions are laid bared for us readers to absorb. So many authors take that for granted thinking they can rush through and we readers wouldn’t notice or care. Author Tymber Dalton’s creation in The Reluctant Dom FEELS REAL. That’s the beauty of this book. You get to experience everything over a real time frame. All the laughter and tears, the high and lows are spread out thorough so by the time the book has finished, your emotions are so tied up you feel the loss of Kaden with Seth and Leah.

Tissues, have lots and lots of tissues before you start reading The Reluctant Dom because if Seth’s repeated heartfelt cry of ‘Kaden’s dying’ doesn’t get to you, the ending will. Is this book worth the tears? As this is the BEST romance story I have read in ages my whole hearted answer is YES!
Get this book and read it…RIGHT NOW!!! You won’t regret it.
