Review: This Girl (Slammed #3) by Colleen Hoover

Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from hispoint of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

If you have read Slammed and Point of No Retreat then This Girl is a must read. Told from Will’s point of view, we are given an opportunity to experience this series once again through different eyes. This wonderful story is told in flashbacks interlaced with present day scenes. Now that they are married, Lake wants to know everything about her husband. As Will shares his thoughts and memories with Lake we begin to have a better understand of his actions. Experiencing their first meeting, first kiss, heartbreaks and pain all over again is like getting served a second helping of the perfect meal. The best part of the retelling of their story is to watch Will and Lake fall in love all over again.

Even though we all know the outcome of their story, This Girl is still fresh in the retelling. It’s not often we get to experience again for the first time a favorite story. Colleen Hoover has a rare treat with This Girl. If you haven’t read the first to in the series, don’t worry. Even though is a continuation I found it stood well on its own. So if you are looking to spend some time once again with Will and Lake, This Girl by Colleen Hooper is the book for you.
