Review: Ties that Bind (Men of Honor #3) by S.E. Jakes

When helo pilot Glen Rhodes flies Navy SEALs into the most dangerous places on earth, he has nerves of steel. Since his trusted Dom’s death three years ago, though, the thought of submitting makes him panic.

Determined to move on and long past ready to release the adrenaline rush from his job, Glen returns to home ground—and to the bar he hasn’t had the heart to enter for three long years. There, he meets a man who seems to fit naturally into the void.

Derek Mann has suffered his own losses, and he isn’t looking for permanent. Easy conquests don’t interest him, either. One look at Glen’s proud military bearing and sad eyes tells him that he has a challenge on his hands. And that winning Glen’s trust will unleash something wild and beautiful.

The plan is to tread lightly. But from the first touch of skin on skin, there’s no holding back…except when it comes to their deepest emotions. A Christmas Eve crisis pushes them both to their limits, leaving them no choice but to let go of the past...or let it pull them apart.

Ties that Bind was very appropriately titled. There was definitely a little more bdsm to this contribution to the Men of Honor series. Glen loves to be tied. He is all about the bondage. For the most part that is as far as his kink goes. He enjoys have a dominant partner to keep him tied down. Sadly his Dom passed away and he hasn’t had any luck in finding a new one.

Derek is not exactly looking for a new sub. He has a very specific taste when it comes to his subs and he has discovered that it is sometimes difficult to find. After losing one and a bad experience with another he is fine with just playing around once in a while. He sees something in Glen that keeps him coming back for more though. Both men have issues to overcome before they can fill the voids in their lives.

This installment in the Men of Honor series works as a stand-alone. Only one of the characters from the other books in this series is even mentioned. Ties that Bind is just as hot as the other books in the series. It is not nearly as intense though. At a much shorter length it is ideal for a reader who is thinking about reading this series, or perhaps someone that is simply looking for an erotic Christmas novella.
