The first book in the Love’s Defenders series is a thrilling action packed and emotionally captivating paranormal romance.

Rescued by a sex trafficking ring, empathy Gyda St. Germaine aided by her two distinct personalities who bolster her powers she becomes a vigilante, hungry for revenge.  When her retribution tosses her into the arms of Brit Harper, her world is turned upside down and fighting her past takes a backseat to her all consuming desire.  Siphon for The Order of Themis, Brit Harper manipulates electricity and when stumbles across a feral woman with a knife, his very life is changed, black and white become gray as the scales of justice tip. He vows to teach her the true meaning of justice and help her explore the passion sizzling between them, but the evil haunting Gyda’s dreams returns in the flesh and he’ll have to choose between his beliefs and the woman he loves.

This steady to fast paced plot captures the reader’s heart and takes them on an emotional journey of a young woman’s quest for revenge to the hope for a happily ever after.  The author brings this action packed tale to life with well written words vivid imagery and details.  The characters are strong, compelling and the reader can’t help but get totally caught up in their story.  Brit is a the type of male that believes in loyalty and protecting females and that justice will prevail, readers can’t help but fall for the sexy man especially as he tries to help as what he believes and his love are put to the test.  Gyda is such an emotionally fragile young woman but with some very strong kick ass personalities to help her overcome her vulnerability.  The attraction between Brit and Gyda radiates from every page, but the romance of course grows slowly throughout the book because of everything against them.

I was totally mesmerized by this story and had to finish it, no matter the tears that came to my eyes at some points and some of the emotionally disturbing subject matter.  I was very impressed with how the author handled the subject and combined it with a surprising and interesting outcome for the young woman. Along with all the great characters that caught my interest, the world itself is fascinating and I definitely will be looking for the next book in the series.Touched by Lightning
