Tina Borlenghi is the quintessential business women.  She heads a fashion design empire featuring her own designer clothing line. When she comes to NYC to open one of her fashion boutiques, she meets Luke. He is the bar owner from next door who comes over to introduce himself.  When Tina mistakes him for the handyman she contracted for, Luke mistakes her for a sales clerk. He helps her out anyway and does come clean about being the bar owner and not a handyman.  Tina, however, keeps her secret to herself.  She’s had a bad time after her ex-boyfriend swindled her out of a lot of money and even more, her pride.  She just wants to be liked for her not for her money or her position.

Luke is smitten once meeting the fiery Italian that is Tina.  He’s taken by her beauty, her zest for life, and her caring nature.  When their fun and flirty antics turn into a quick fling centering on role-playing, both are enjoying themselves immensely.  But something is off.  He feels it. Tina is evasive and vague when answering Luke’s questions.  He doesn’t even know her last name for goodness sake!  He’s got some trust issues as well dating back to his childhood and his mother.  Luke tries to play it off since he knows Tina’s days in NYC are numbered and this is just supposed to be about sex, but he is starting to fall. What is she hiding?? You need to pick up this little gem to find out what happens when Tina’s secret is exposed!

I really enjoyed this book from the beginning.  It’s original story sucked me right in! It is my first Joan Kilby book, but I definitely want to read more!  Her writing is refreshing and I loved all the lapses into speaking Italian Tina made!  It made her very real to me and I just wanted to be her best friend.  I was rooting for Tina and Luke and hoped they could figure things out by talking through their trust issues. Turning the Tables was a fun, sexy, and oh so steamy read that left me feeling deliriously happy!  When a book can do that for you, you know you have a winner!
