Review – Tuscan Heat (SoBe Heat, #1) by Anise Storm

Having known each other since birth, Mario De Palma and Melania Barone fought worse than siblings. That all changed one evening when dueling tempers exploded into a night of passion and desire under the Tuscan Heat.

Three years later, Melania finally has all she'd ever dreamed of ... a successful Italian restaurant... a group of close knit friends who were more like sisters... and a single lifestyle on the shores of South Beach. Occasionally she wanted more, but two out of three wasn't bad.

After enjoying world-wide culinary success, Mario returned to South Beach intending to open a restaurant of his own. That isn't the only reason he returned to Florida, though. He moved home to claim the one woman who hadn't left his mind since their night together in Italy.

More than tempers explode when they reunite, especially once she believes that he's out to sabotage her restaurant. Will Mario be able to convince Melania of the truth before a force of nature threatens to end that dream forever?

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I picked it up because it teased me with the idea that there may be a little food mixed with love. Well….not quite, but I still liked it.

Melania (aka Lania) grew up in South Florida. Her family was very close to another Italian family, hence also growing up around Mario. These two literally watched each other grow, develop and most importantly, get under each others skin. After an alcohol induced roll in the hay (actually water, but you know what I mean) that left Lania all kinds of confused, Lania decided that she needed to “not” think about Mario…until three years later when he returns to Florida to open up his own restaurant right down the street from hers. Is this the typical Mario trying to steal and sabotage her? Lania thinks so.

Mario hasn’t been able to get Lania out of his head ever since that one night in Tuscany. Although he’s been known as the bachelor who doesn’t stay with the same girl twice, he’s starting to think thoughts of “forever” with Lania as the main star. Too bad she doesn’t trust him. It’s also pretty difficult to convince her that he’s falling for her “for real” when every time they see each other he’s dominating and controls her in more way than one. What the heck is it about him that make her melt in his arms every time he touches her?

This was a pretty quick read. All in all I enjoyed it. Mario has a little bit of a dominance to him that we get a small glimpse at. Lania was a little TOO sassy and witchy for me, but I guess that’s part of her Italian charm. I think I’m more interested in learning about Lania and Mario’s friend though. It appears that the set up has been made and couples will be formed. Which ones? That’s what I want to know.
