Review: Vicente (The Santinis #4) by Melissa Schroeder

Vince Santini considers himself the last man standing. Being the only unmarried brother is a badge of honor, until the woman had always been in his heart returns. Acting on his attraction hadn’t been an option seeing that she was his best friend’s girl, but now she is single and free for him to pursue.

Julianna Andrews is a survivor. It took her years to walk away from her abusive husband, and now all she cares about is building her business. She doesn’t have time for Vince or the temptation he represents. He is a reminder of her past. One argument leads to a heated kiss, and the passion that threatens to consume them both.

Vince knows that Jules might not be ready for happily ever after with anyone, but he is bound and determined to convince her that he can give her that—and more. This Santini is happy to be the last man standing—as long as he is HER man.

Mel saved the best for last. There were several times I found it hard not to cry. Jules has not ever experienced a relationship where the man gave her his all. In fact she had a horrible marriage that ended under tragic, but good circumstances. Good because she got out of an abusive relationship. The years of abuse has left her scarred emotionally. Readers know from the other Santinis books that these men do not go in to anything half way. They are there in your face and a force to be reckoned with. Jules is pretty sure that Vince is not a force she wants to contend with.

Vicente is the oldest of Joey’s four baby boys. He is also at this point the Last Santini Standing. He has grown used to the fact that if he can’t have the only woman he ever wanted then being a bachelor for the rest of his life is fine by him. Joey being the wonderful mother that she is takes charge and puts Vince in the same room with that one woman he can’t have. I’ve said from the beginning that Joey was my favorite Santini. Vince puts everything into the one shot he has at the only woman he has ever wanted.

Jules needed a man like Vince to come into her life. His devotion is exactly what she needs to help her heal some old wounds. And the bombshell he drops on her in the last few pages are reason alone to read this gem. Jules was just as shocked as I was. Joey raised her four baby’s right.

This series revolves around four sexy brothers and the women who they fall in love with. Each book works as a stand-alone and they can be read in any order.

I read the first book and sort of got side tracked somehow. This makes me want to dig them back out and finish the series. I’m glad I saw this post.
