In Fort Braeden, your worst nightmares have a way of finding you.
No one knows this better than Lieutenant Noel Casey. Eager for normalcy after her tumultuous first days at the base, Noel finds comfort in returning to a routine of vaccine development and disease research for the United States Army. But when Counteractants, a specialized laboratory harboring some of the most dangerous pathogens in the world, is burned down and a highly infectious disease is set loose, her time for reprieve is over. As council members become sick and the death count begins to rise, it’s clear the release was no accident. Noel fears she’ll be unable to control the outbreak, a concern that morphs into terror when she learns the intended victims are those closest to her. Can Lieutenant Casey find the cure—and the culprit—before it’s too late?
Noel will soon discover the only thing more insidious than a man-made pathogen is deception.

I really love this series. Hot alien men in uniform and now add in a virus released that is making those close to Noel sick. I am hooked.
This story has many twists and turns and it starts right off into the action with a monster attack. The tickers are still present at the base as well as most of the characters from the last book. Taylor, Noel and Killian are still stuck in the triangle which I will admit I am not sure who I hope wins Noel in the end. She is with Killian for now but I can’t help but wonder if it will stay that way or if Taylor will end up with Noel in the end. I have to admit I really like Taylor. At this Fort no one is who they say they are and everyone has ulterior motives. I really enjoyed trying to figure out who done what and why in this story.
One thing in this book also is the author uses words occasionally that I don’t know the exact meaning of them. I have to look it up or just piece it together. They are few and far between but it can be a good and bad point. I don’t mind it because it helps broaden my horizons and honestly there are not a lot of these words in here. The first book in the series was also like that. She manages to have me learn something new while completely entertaining me at the same time. I feel that is a good balance.
I can’t wait to see what will happen in the next book. I will definitely continue with this series.
