What a cool concept. A bad*ss special military unit with a secret. The secret has been easy to keep quiet for many years, until someone is put right in the middle of their training, searching for that very secret.

Kat is a Pentagon intelligence officer who has been asked to infiltrate the Marine’s Special Force unit, Bravo Team. Why? Because the team is amazing. They’ve never lost a casualty and among other things, they’ve never come back from a mission injured. But there’s a catch to this assignment. She’s always wanted to be a true Marine. One that’s out in the field, not behind a desk. So this is her opportunity to prove that she’s capable of being out there with the best of the best, and she’s determined to earn her place. But it’s not that easy when her Captain is the very man who swept her off her feet before she even made it on base. And keeping the relationship professional while earning her place is becoming harder by the minute.

Jax is the Captain of the Marine’s Bravo Team. Reporting back to base, he “rescues” Kat from a blown out tire just outside of base. There is reciprocated attraction, but the brakes are quickly locked in place when Jax is given an order he immediately hates. Being Kat’s Captain, protecting the team’s secret and following orders become pretty sticky. It doesn’t help that his own team starts to like Kat as much as he does. But orders are orders, right?

Although this is a PNR, most of the paranormal is in bits and pieces. Not that it’s a bad thing, but since the paranormal is the secret, it’s not as predominate as other reads. That being said, I really enjoyed the military aspect of the story and how it was incorporated. I have mixed feelings about the ending. But I also know that this is a series, so I’ll have to wait to see if I get what I’m looking for. All in all, this was pretty good. Even though “we” know the secrets as readers, we’re still pulled in to the trainings, missions and drama.
