Review: Wild Release by Amy Ruttan

Bear shifter Étienne is haunted by the ghosts of his past. He is physically and emotionally scarred but that doesn’t stop him from protecting his chief and his clan. Until one day when one of those ghosts comes back into his life.

Cara Christoph was forced to flee her people a decade ago in order to protect everyone she loved, including the man she was going mate with, Étienne. She never thought she’d see him again, until he ends up on her doorstep.

Étienne has one job to do, bring Cara home to her dying mother. He can’t let himself get attached, but being so close to her makes the beast inside him wild. All too soon, the passion he thought long gone is rekindled into a burning flame.

A flame that comes perilously close to being snuffed out when Étienne’s troubled past catches up with him.

This book about the Mukswa is a riveting paranormal romance that captivates the readers.

Forced to flee her people to protect everyone she loved, Cara Christoph never thought she would see the man she was going to mate with again, until he showed up on her doorstep. Emotionally and physically scarred, bear shifter Etienne protects his chief and his clan. Now he’s been given the task of bringing Cara home to her dying mother only being close to her makes the beast inside him wild and the passion he thought long gone is rekindled into a burning flame. When Etienne’s past catches up with him that flames comes perilously close to being snuffed out.

This fast paced plot keeps the reader mesmerized with suspense, action, drama and romance.  The author captures the imagination and brings these shifters to life with vivid imagery and details. The enchanting characters are strong, compelling and easily related to.  The reader’s attention is caught from the very beginning and their heart and emotions are swept into the drama of the story.

The attraction between Cara and Etienne burns hot and the frequent sex scenes blaze with red hot passion.  They both have past traumas that must be overcome as well as secrets that must be revealed in order to even think about having a future which adds lots of depth to the story.  The reader can’t help but fall for the sexy, but troubled Etienne and cheer for him and Cara as they struggle through past and present ghosts.

The author has created a fascinating world of shifters that has a few unique differences from other bear stories that I have read that adds some spice to the story.  This is the first book that I have read about the Mukswa and while I couldn’t determine if this is part of a series for sure, there are two other stories that is definitely connected and I will be reading them soon.  Wild Release
