Review: With Honor by Rhonda Lee Carver

A one-night stand leaves her questioning who she really slept with. Jasmine enters a bar in Texas looking for the man who got her pregnant. Keeping Shane Conner hostage in the men's restroom, she tells him she's carrying his child. His shock is understandable, until he tries to pretend he doesn't know her. She's ready to walk, but there's something very different about Shane... Shawn can only accept Jasmine's story about hooking up with his twin brother Shane. He may not have been there, but he knows exactly what kind of a dog his brother is. Posing as his missing brother, he's hoping to learn what really happened to Shane, but his portrayal is falling a little short...he just can't be that big of a jerk. While he sorts out the mystery, he'll try to make things right with Jasmine and be a stand-in father to the baby. Because that's the honorable thing, right? Sometimes honor comes with a high price...and surprising benefits. CONTENT WARNING: Naughty language, and naughtier sexual content. A Lyrical Press Contemporary Romance

Rhonda Lee Carver’s latest offering, With Honor, entertains as she incorporates a compelling romance with an intriguing mystery that readers will be unable to put down.

Jasmine Sinclaire, a journalist, shared one night of passion with Shane Connor, an air force pilot. Weeks later, Jasmine is stunned to discover that she is pregnant. Traveling from Florida to Texas, Jasmine tracks down the baby daddy to inform him of his pending parenthood. When Jasmine confronts Shane, she is stunned to realize that he doesn’t recognize her. Unbeknownst to Jasmine, Shawn—Shane’s twin—is impersonating his brother while investigating Shane’s disappearance. Although Shawn has no idea what Jasmine’s intentions are, but he is unwilling to let her raise the child alone since there is a good chance that Shane is dead. Shawn’s actions, even when he doubts he is doing the right thing, make him an honorable and likeable character. Jasmine is willing to do the anything to have her baby’s father involved in the child’s life. She isn’t looking for the fairy tale ending, which made me just love her character. The quick-witted banter between Jasmine and Shawn provides many laugh-out-loud moments, making them an engaging couple. The sexual tension between these two simmers to the boiling point. When they finally give into to their feelings for each other, their intimate scenes brim with passion. While cultivating the romantic relationship, Carver meticulously develops Shawn’s investigation, eye-popping plot twists, and the reveal that Shawn isn’t Shane, all of which kept me glued to my e-reader.

A well-crafted plot, engrossing characters, and a riveting romance make With Honor a captivating read until the perfect romantic conclusion.

I received an eBook copy from the author for purpose of an honest review for The Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibility.
