Review: Crossing Abby Road by Ophelia London

Todd Camford went from Marine sniper to owning a beachfront surf shop in Florida, and he couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately, the programming from his training hasn't quite been eliminated. His ex called him an unfeeling cyborg, but he's a free-flying, unfettered hawk, damn it. Relationships are out of the question... And then she comes into his shop. Everyone knows who Abigail Kelly is—mega rockstar, tabloid fixture. Still, nothing prepares Todd for Abby's smoky gray eyes or the swift breathlessness of their instant chemistry. He'd be an ass (or possibly insane) to think he can resist her. Just for today, maybe he'll keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn't get mobbed. Because really, how much damage could one day with a super-hot, kick-ass celebrity really do?

Crossing Abby Road is the second book in the Abby Road Series and a sequel to Abby Road. It is Todd’s POV on the day he met Abby. I did not read the first book in the series, but enjoyed this book just the same. Prior reading is not required to read this book.

Todd is an ex-Marine Sniper dealing with day to day real life. He carried a fare bit of stress with his sniper duties then and feels himself being similarly pulled under now in his current job. His sisters have noted it and he’s not sure why he’s feeling like his is. Things are going pretty good for him since leaving the Armed Forces. His surf shop is doing rather well and plans to open another branch are taking hold. What he doesn’t expect is a lovely Rock Star taking refuge from reporters to jump into his surf shop.

Abigail Kelly is a rock star and is followed incessantly by paparazzi. She just wants some time away-time to herself-to be alone! But when she ducks into Todd’s shop to dodge reporters, what she finds is a shockingly handsome surfer whose eyes make her melt. Todd sees she’s agitated and his training kicks in. Before you know it, he takes up the role of being her bodyguard for the entire day!

What an incredible day it is. The whole book takes place in just this one day. A first date if you will. Getting food, enjoying conversation on the beach, and trying to savor the time his has with this wonderful girl. This is a quick breezy read and oh so tantalizing! Just this one day changes Todd’s perspective of his life. He starts to think clearer as the day goes on. Things he thought he wanted he realizes aren’t really a priority. Although this is a super sweet read, I would’ve liked a little more oomph. Maybe a bit more of Todd’s inner X-rated thoughts?? There is a lot of chemistry but I needed a little more. What we get is a romantic first date where both characters are totally smitten with each other.
