Review: Conceal (The Barker Triplets #3) by Juliana Stone
No one said going home would be easy…
Black sheep and all around trouble maker, Betty Jo Barker is back home and hoping for a do-over. Things are finally looking up until Beau Simon comes to town. The man pushes every button she owns and manages to awaken long dead emotions she’d rather leave buried. Beneath the surface she knows she’s a wreck–her scars run deep–and she can’t help but wonder, is Beau Simon the one who can fix her?
Beau Simon, the brightest star in Hollywood has come to New Waterford for one reason only. He’s determined to have Betty Jo Barker star in his next film. He knows she’s perfect for the part, but a past encounter might prove more than a little difficult to overcome. As Beau turns on the charm, hoping to win over this complicated woman, he realizes it won’t be easy.
Only time will tell if what lies beneath can ever be overcome. Or if love can heal all…

I was so excited when this book popped up in my inbox. I’ve disliked Betty since she let that bombshell drop towards the end of Offside. While I disliked her I knew there had to be something going on that she didn’t share. I just knew there was more to her than what she let people see. Betty was a fascinating read. It makes so much sense why Beau would be interested in her starring in his next movie. Betty is an amazing actress. Beau gets to see just how far her emotions run, how well she hides what she is really feeling, and just how beyond perfect she is for him (his movie) while he is chasing her all over New Waterford just trying to get a conversation out of her. Beau is a bright man, he saw things in Betty that many didn’t. It just took him doing something awful to get that enlightenment.

Readers are treated to some page time with the couples from Offside and Collide. As typical Barker triplet behavior they have some good times and of course they have some fights that get your heart racing. These are some passionate ladies. Not one of does anything halfway. They are definitely those that give their all even if it just a sisterly spat.

I am happy to know that Juliana will be visiting New Waterford again. She also plans to give Beau’s family their own series starting with Tucker. He is Beau’s brother and he just makes you want to read more of him. Matt Hawkins, Betty’s friend from the previous books makes me curious if that is the reason Ms Stone plans to visit New Waterford again. There is much more to him than I ever thought possible, but I still have no clue what it is that is going on with him. Sad to see the Barker’s and all of their issues end, but looking forward to the things Juliana has planned for her writing future.

“Don’t,” he said roughly.

She smiled at him. “I thought you could handle me.”

He stared down at her, his hands still in her hair and a wicked glint entered his eyes. “Trust me darlin’ I intend to handle you.”

He tugged on her, until she slowly stood up and with his hands still buried in her waves, he pulled her forward that last inch so that every naked inch of her body was pressed intimately against every naked inch of his.

His breath was warm at her neck and shivers rolled over her body as he licked beneath her ear, hands cradling the back of her head so that she was forced to tilt upward.

Slowly he kissed his way along her jaw until his mouth grazed her lips. It was only a whisper but it was enough to heat her up from the inside out. “I’m going to handle every fucking inch of you.”

About the Author

Juliana StoneA Bit About Me
Juliana Stone’s love of the written word and 80s rock, have inspired her in more ways than one. She writes dark paranormal romance as well as Contemporary Romance and spends her days navigating a busy life that includes, a husband, kids, a dog and a cat.
Juliana is represented by Sara Megibow of The Nelson Literary Agency.
Hobbies & Interests
Music and words have always been my passions. I sing in a band in which my husband plays guitar and my son comes along for the ride as well. We’re total ’80s geeks, but sadly, the big hair, big shoulder pads, and neon colors are a thing of the past!
Writing Tips
I think that it’s important to take some time for yourself when you’re on deadline. If you spend all your time in the chair writing, it’s so easy to burn out. Because writing is such a lonely job, with so many hours spent by yourself, it’s important (for me) to get some social time in. So as a reward, I allow myself time to surf the Net, read blogs, Twitter, and Facebook to connect with all the writer friends that I have.
